The history of Biddle Precision Components dates back to 1939, when a man named Kenneth Biddle began to pursue his dream in Cleveland, Ohio. Having several years of experience as an operator and set-up man in a Cleveland screw machine shop, Ken saw at that time an increasing need for the manufacturing of custom ordered tooling. Realizing that he would never make a lot of money working for someone else, he and his wife, Velma started a small shop in the basement of their rooming house. They purchased small machinery a little at a time, as they could afford.

Beginning to see the potential of the industry and the successes of their efforts so far, in 1939 Ken decided to partner with an associate to form a screw machine business. After the start of WWII, they were in full production and ready to carry their share of the burden of war production. The number of employees then grew from a handful to around twenty-five by late 1941.

Despite a very successful start, Ken decided to dissolve the partnership in 1944, and move back to his hometown of Sheridan, Indiana in order to start his own company. He founded Biddle Screw Products in a converted garage on Main Street, which is where we stand today. He quickly doubled his workforce by adding several locals to his transplanted Cleveland staff.

In 1989, our 50th anniversary, the name was changed to Biddle Precision Components (BPC) in order to better reflect our broad range of manufacturing capabilities. Today, BPC is one the largest and most successful, independently owned producers of precision machined parts, with over 150,000 square feet in Sheridan. With many achievements behind it, BPC now looks onward to its next 50 years of service to the industry with much confidence and aggressiveness for what may lie ahead.
